BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

The Southern California chapter of ASEI has a Board of Directors (BOD) composed of seven directors. They are elected from the ASEI SoCal membership. The following By-laws are adhered to when electing the BOD:

 

         Board to comprise of seven directors

         Each director to serve for a 2-year term

         Nominations to come from the active ASEI SoCal membership

         Three members of the Board shall retire every year and their positions filled with newly elected Directors

         Board members will be elected by the ASEI SoCal membership during annual elections

BOARD OF DIRECTORS BIOGRAPHIES 

Subba Gopavarapu  

Mr Subba Rao Gopavarapu is President of GSR Technologies,Inc .  He is an entrepreneur with more than 15 yrs of experience of Software Development and Software Services. For the last 15 years he has worked with different clients to implement full SDLC by using RUP methodologies in area of Enterprise Change Management, Enterprise Software Configuration Management, Build Management and Release Management and latest trends including Continues Integrations Concepts. Mr Subba is very specialized in helping offshore development Best Practices to improve the software development. He Holds B.Tech from Nagarjuna University. He is married with Sarojini and blessed with 2 Kids Susmitha and Sahasra.

Dr. Ramgopal Rao

 

Dr. Rao is the Chief Executive Officer of 3D Vision Systems. He is an entrepreneur with 25 years of experience in the ophthalmic market with experience in several successful start-up companies.

Dr. Rao most recently developed a corneal implant device for presbyopia. This technology is now licensed to Acufocus, Inc., a venture funded ophthalmic company which rose $43 M to date. He founded Tomey Technology Inc., an ophthalmic imaging instrumentation company in Cambridge, MA that grew to $50 million sales volume in four years. Tomey pioneered the corneal topography mapping systems that are now a standard in LASIK related eye surgery. Mr. Rao was President of Ophthalmic Group at Premier Laser Systems, Inc. He holds a MSEE from Oklahoma State University and MBA from Northeastern University. He also pursued his graduate studies at MIT.

 

Dr. Anita Sengupta

Dr. Anita Sengupta is a Senior Systems Engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the EDL and Advanced technologies group. She is the lead systems engineer for a Mars Sample Return mission under development. As a member of the Mars Science Laboratory Flight system team she is responsible for the supersonic parachute decelerator qualification program and Mars landing engine plume ground interaction program. Previously she was the task manager and Co-Investigator of the Prometheus VHITAL Hall Thruster program and NEXIS Ion Thruster program and the DS1 Ion Thruster Extended Life Test program. Prior to working at JPL she worked at Boeing Satellite systems as the cognizant engineer for the ion thrusters on the H702 spacecraft and Boeing Space and Communications where she worked on the Space Shuttle, X37 Reusable Space Vehicle, and Delta IV EELV programs. Her research interests include plasma diagnostics, plasma confinement of ion thrusters, supersonic aerodynamics, and fluid structure interaction analysis for aerodynamic decelerators. Dr. Sengupta has published her research in several peer reviewed journals and is the recipient of various awards including ASEI Woman Engineer of the Year, NASA Tech Award, AIAA Best Paper Award, and JPL Mariner award. She received her PhD and MS in Aerospace Engineering from USC and BS in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University.

 

 

Kupp Sridhar

Kupp Sridhar is a lead engineer at Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) and has more than 30 years of experience in Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Production Planning and Control and Maintenance Engineering in Aerospace and Military Electronics industries. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University, India and an MBA in Operations Management from University of Toledo, Ohio. Presently in his role at the BCA, Kupp is responsible for supporting several airlines in the maintenance and reliability operations of their fleet. Also, he is the chief consultant for maintenance and engineering operations and has provided invaluable recommendations benefiting many airlines in the areas of line maintenance, dispatch reliability, heavy maintenance, inventory management, computer system applications, production planning and maintenance and reliability programs. Kupp has a flair for public speaking and he is the key speaker in several Boeing sponsored seminars for airlines. His areas of interest are Operations Research, Computer Systems Applications, Aircraft Economics, and Airline Operations. As part of his work, Kupp has visited several countries around the world and has an appreciation for diverse cultures. Outside of his work scope Kupp loves to travel, read David Baldacci and John Grisham novels, participate and assist in community work and enjoys playing tennis.

 

Vijay Trehan

Vijay Trehan currently works for the Eaton Corporation in Orange County. Previously, he was a Senior Systems Engineer, presently working at the Boeing Company (Boeing Defense Systems and Security) at Huntington beach, CA. Prior to that Vijay worked at Northrop Grumman, Sprint PCS, California Edison, City of Los Angeles, Unisys Corporation in different capacities from Engineering Lead to Manager. Vijay graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Roorkee and then completed his Master in Business Management from the University of Delhi in India. Prior to coming to USA, Vijay worked as a Management Executive at the Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL) at Hyderabad, AP and Engineers India Ltd. (EIL), New Delhi. During his ECIL days, Vijay worked on the world's first direct broadcast satellite system called Satellite Instructional TV Experiment (SITE). Vijay was awarded a scholarship at the East-West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii and spent two years at the University of Hawaii. Vijay is current treasurer of the East West Center Alumni Association of the Southern California and organized various seminars and conferences including one sea-board conference to Mexico.
